A lot of important choices need to be made if a woman is pregnant. She needs to go see and choose a doctor. They need to find a suitable hospital where they can give birth to their babies. And some other things. What pregnant women do not realize is that they have a choice aside from the usual way of delivery and this is called natural delivery. That is the method where drugs are not administered during delivery. With more and more people concerned with health this is a gaining popularity.Midwifery is the one profession that can hep in this kind of situation.

What is really the use of midwifery? It is defined as the practice of assisiting pregnant mothers give birth the natural way. Of course there a lot more defintions. But this is the simplest definition.  As a San Diego midwife that is the job which is to help a woman attempt to deliver naturally. This can give a lot of benefits.  Mainly of course no drug use. Plus without using drugs it actually helps the delivery proceed faster.  Because most drugs slow down pregnancy.

Women now not just choose to give birth naturally but also opt to give birth at their own homes. They are opting to stay in their houses to give birth to their babies. This is a lot more different than what people are used to doing. But a lot of benefits await the mothers and the babies.  As a homebirth midwife San Diego I have been able to see these benefits firsthand.  Some of those benefits is a more private environment for the mom. There is also no need for surgical procedures because the way of giving birth is natural.

Now of course there are some objections. Some are sceptical about the safety of the method. But this factor should not be a big deal if the pregnancy is a low risk one.But if the pregnancy is a high risk one then it would not definitely be recommended.  In my midwife San Diego practice I always advise my clients to go with the normal delivery in a hospital if it is high risk.So that if anything happens it can be immediately attended to by a doctor.

Benefits of having a baby in water

Written by myworldplus on Sunday, September 27th, 2009 in MLM.

One of the ways of having a baby that isn’t common but is gaining in some popularity is water birth.  It isn’t the usual way of having a baby on a medical bed.But it is safe to use in giving birth to a baby.

So what we are going to do is look at the water birth process and it’s benefits. These are going to come from experience that I have gained as a midwife in San Diego.First of all, water birth is the way of delivering a baby while the patient isin a tub filled with warm water. It is usually done in a tub filled with warm water. It is said to be good for the baby because the baby also lived in a similar environment for almost 9 months. The babies have been in water inside the mother’s womb for 9 months and using this method helps the babies get adjusted.

Also studies have shown that it is an effective form of pain management. To hear that is a big relief for women. A lot of times it allows the use of no medicine.  I have performed many without medicine as well as many other homebirth midwife San Diego I have spoken with.

Is water birth a safe way to deliver?Studies says that most of the time it is safe to use. There are just a few cases when it isn’t safe to use because of certain medical conditions of the patient. I have had that happen in my waterbirth San Diego service. Consulting a doctor first is the best thing to do.

Reduced skin tears is another benefit that pregnant mothers get from having a water birth. It can be a very painful experience during delivery.  But having a baby in water helps lessen that possibility.  Because it soothes the skin.

If you follow these procedures this could be a choice of delivery for you.It has a lot of benefits for both the baby and the mother. But go see and ask your doctor first if this is the right method for you.

Better ways to deliver

Written by myworldplus on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 in MLM.

It seems commonly assumed that the way to deliver a baby is in a hospital.Or to be more precise, a lot of people think that when you have a baby that you have to use medicine. In this piece we are going to try to shatter some of those assumptions. We are going to show you some other methods that might prove to be better.

Of course these observations are going to be coming from the viewpoint of my experience running a San Diego midwife service.  If you are unaware midwives are woman who help assist during the delivery process.Usually all the time without needing to use medicines in a homebirth.

So why are women choosing this method of delivery?  For the woman that choose this method and understand it, there are several reasons.

First of all, when you don’t use medicine in the labor, it actually makes the process of labor and delivery faster.A lot of women don’t even know that using medicine actually causes the labor to slow down.Women want to use it because they think it stops the pain, but it actually makes the pain last longer.  There are many certified midwives in San Diego who can show you proof of that.

Second, when you do use a natural method such as a waterbirth, it actually helps the muscles and the body because it soothes and relaxes during the delivery. This naturally helps reduce the pain and makes the labor and delivery happen much quicker.  I have seen it helping many women have a waterbirth in San Diego.

Those are just a few of the many reasons that a lot of women have gone with a homebirth to deliver their baby.Even though there is no use of medicine and doctors aren’t usually present, it is still a safe alternative. When the delivery is in the home, it helps foster a more private and personal environment.  Rather than in a hospital where there are several people who poke and prod through the labor.  So for these reasons many woman prefer a homebirth. It is a dignified and safe way and a process that is natural.
