When considering the possibility of whether or not to join MLM, (aka “network marketing”) opportunities, there are a number of things to keep in mind. First and foremost; is it a true MLM company with a real product or service? Or is it just a pyramid recruitment program?
A real multi-level marketing (MLM) business is legal, and is not a “pyramid”, because there are genuine products and/or services sold. Without the product/service, it is illegal, and those are indeed pyramids. Besides the legalities, those schemes always come to an end, with the vast majority of members losing everything.
Next: You need to have a conversation, with yourself. What is it you want to get out of network marketing, should you decide to go in that direction? Do you have to attain a certain income, for instance, a minimum of one hundred thousand dollars a year, in two or three years? Due to the fact the MLM has a structure that lets you leverage the activity of other people, (a basic principle of wealth), that may be possible. But, there are no guarantees and even if you get to that income bracket, it could take a decade or longer.
On the other hand, you may realize that there is zero possibility of earning six figures at your present place of employment, therefore joining a network marketing program as a way of making some extra money, could be a good decision. You do not usually need to dedicate but a few or possibly several hours a week to it, at the most. You might like it and go on to grow your downline to a size that lets your quit your day job.
The great thing about network marketing is you are not limited to earning commissions only from you direct customers (referrals). You make commissions from the referrals of your referrals; and then from their referrals, on down the line, for a number of levels deep. In time, it can grow quite large, giving you very nice monthly residual payments; but it can only happen if you work. You can’t expect others to do the work for you.
The main investment you will make is time, not money. Many network marketers complain because it is not fast enough for them in the beginning. They should think about opening a regular business, and working hard for five years before seeing their first dollar profit. Success stories of MLM millionaires often include, how they almost quit because it was too slow at first. The importance of persistence should always be realized.
Persistence and training are keys to success in network marketing. Having someone who is already successful with experience you can draw from, if you choose to join MLM, will go a long way. A good teacher can help you learn the basic skills you will need, and use the tools that can help reach your goals.Persistence and training in MLM equals success. A mentor with the experience to teach you the skill sets and explain how to use the tools, can shave years off your goal projections. If you decide to join MLM and persevere and train seriously, like you would do for any normal job that required it, you can not help but meet with success.
