There are several reasons why I would like to become a medical transcriptionist; the first of which is my husband’s health. My husband is a carpenter by trade and has spent over 15 years in the field. The difficulty of his line of work has taken its toll, and 2 years ago he was told that he needed to have back surgery. He was also told that because of the severity of damage to his spine that he would never be able to work as a carpenter or do any physical labor for the rest of his life. Unfortunately surgery at that point was not an option. My husband is the sole provider for our family. We had to make a plan. We decided that the best plan of action was for me to enroll in college, and once I completed my degree we would then look at revising our plans for his back surgery.  home typist jobs

My schooling has been a long and difficult road. I am continuing to work towards my Associates Degree, but came to the realization not long ago, that finding a job outside of the home really isn’t going to be the best option once I complete my degree. That brings me to my second reason why I believe that medical transcription jobs at home would be a wonderful option for me as well as my family. My husband and I have two boys ages 8 and 9. We made the decision many years ago that I was going to home school them instead of sending them to school, and we take that decision very seriously. Although there is a possibility that my husband may be at home for several months after his surgery giving us the option of switching roles for a while; neither one of us looked beyond that to when he finds future employment. Seeing as I am the main provider of their education, it seems only logical that I look for a career that allows me the flexibility to work from my own home. This way I can continue to bring in an income during my husband’s recovery time while helping to nurse him back to health as well as while he is breaking into a new field himself. I’ve looked at several online medical transcription courses and there are several reasons why FutureMT caught my attention. First, they are accredited with the Better Business Bureau. I do not recall seeing that on any of the other sights that I visited. I am also very impressed with the guarantees offered. Not only that I am satisfied with the course and instruction, but in help finding my career afterwards as well. This says to me that Future MT is confident in what they have to offer, which makes me feel confident in selecting them as my choice. If I am selected to receive a scholarship I want to get started right away. I intend to reach my certification as quickly as possible, working at a full-time pace. Some things that I would like to see happen once I find my career as a MT would be to be able to maintain full time employment until my sons are older. Once they graduate then I may even look into beginning my own MT business.

I Am a Self-Employed Woman Trying to Keep Afloat

Written by myworldplus on Wednesday, March 17th, 2010 in MLM.

The economy has placed everyone in a bad situation. Unfortunately, the economy along with other problems has forced me into a poor financial situation. That is the reason I would like to become a Medical Transcriptionist. I am a self-employed woman trying to keep afloat in a business whose appointment volume has been cut in half since more consumers are pinching their pennies. In addition to that, my business is reliant on my equipment. Mostly, I rely upon a generator. That generator failed and could not be repaired. That closed the business down completely for 3 months while a new unit that would work for business specifications was found and financing obtained to purchase it.

This alone would have forced me to find another job to supplement my falling business income. However, new problems occurred. My sister, who was sharing a house and a mortgage payment with me, got married and moved out. Subsequently, she could not make her part of the mortgage payment and my house is now in foreclosure. I attempted to rent a room to supplement income and my cousin moved in. Unfortunately, he has been unable to make his rent payment most of the time and I have been supporting both of us.

Working in the Medical Transcription field has the main benefit of allowing me to work around my few appointments that I have with my business as I will be able to do this work from my home. Also, my sister is now pregnant and that will allow me to make myself available to babysit when she needs to leave for work. Also, as strange as it may seem, I have always enjoyed typing. That includes transcribing letters as someone dictates them to me. It was the part of my first job, at an insurance office, that I most enjoyed. It is almost impossible to find part-time home typist jobs with hours that would allow me to salvage my business that I have owned for 8 years. I would like to be able to continue that and have a second career that will help me weather the economic downturn and any economic hits in the future. SN:0MA9N2ESY

Future MT appealed to me since it is a member of the Better Business Bureau. Also, the assistance seems to be in place to help members find open jobs for Medical Transcriptionists. This is extremely important, especially in today’s economy. Everyone needs all of the support that they can get. As far as long term goals, I only have the goal of being a very reliable and productive Medical Transcriptionist. That will help me get through current and future issues. Also, in the next five years or so, I expect to be married and starting a family of my own. This career will allow me to be home with my family while providing financial security for them. I had always planned on going back to school, however, could not quite find the money to cover it. With full tuition, I would be able to put every spare moment into completing Future MT’s training program and then into being reliable and effective as a Medical Transcriptionist.

I found that the Medical Transcription industry has the best offerings

Written by myworldplus on Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 in MLM.

I recently was affected by the current economic downturn & the company that I had devoted many years to suddenly went bankrupt. The private sector position that I held provided me with an excellent salary with outstanding benefits. The felling of hopelessness, fear and stress was indescribable. I was extremely fortunate to secure another position with excellent benefits but a salary level 35% less then was accustomed to. I gratefully accepted the position but was now faced with the 35% delta in my income. My initial focus was to provide for my children. As my children are preparing for college I am looking for additional ways to supplement my income in order to allow my children to attend college with no debt.

When I was of college age my parents could not afford to send me to college so the entire college experience was left to me including the financial responsibilities. As the cost of education is rising, as well as general living expenses, I determined this was going to be more difficult for them. I do not want to minimize their college experience with the worry that once they completed college they would be faced with mounds of debt as they were entering the workforce. Becoming a medical transcriptionist would allow me to supplement my current income in order to cover the expenses they will incur in the coming years and to start their careers with a positive outlook. As the population ages and the need for more medical care increases the MT industry as well as Future MT allows greater flexibility for individuals to not only service the medical industry but also provides the flexibility to complete the course work on my schedule and once I graduate work with my existing schedule. Medical transcription at home jobs provide huge advantages for not only stay at home parents but also individuals like me who want to supplement their current career. SN:0MA9N2ESY

I have always had an interest in the medical field but my career choices had taken me down a different path. This additional experience would allow me to be involved in the medical industry via a different avenue. Although my immediate goals are to supplement my income, I feel with a background in medical transcribing and the options it can provide to me, coupled with my prior work experience & education, I can look to the future as a business owner and manage my own company and hopefully in the future help individuals with similar situations like myself. My goal is to become self sufficient and to investigate all avenues that can provide me with that freedom. During my research of possible home typist jobs, I found that the Medical Transcription industry has the best offerings with its flexibility not only in the course work but also with career options it has to offer. For a hardworking, highly motivated individual like myself I will be able to set a goal & achieve it. I am excited and optimistic about the potential that Future MT can provide as well as the opportunities that lie ahead of me.

Being a Medical Transcriptionist is a Career

Written by myworldplus on Monday, November 23rd, 2009 in MLM.

Being a Medical Transcriptionist is a hoped for career. There are advantages to being an MT or any home typist jobs; flexibility, extra income, and family time, just to name a few. The medical field is constantly growing. Since the field is continually growing, there are always new job/career opportunities becoming available. Having a career as an MT is a step in the right direction. Becoming an MT would be a good move for me. I love to type and am familiar with medical terminology. The flexible nature of this career is extremely ideal. Since I am already in the medical field in my current job, I feel I would excel in this program. I have wanted to begin training for medical transcription for a long time now.

Recently my husband significantly injured his dominant hand at work causing him to be partially disabled. His job is hands on, so the work is not always easy for him, and he is limited in what he can do. Since the job market is not at its best, he is compelled to stay at his job while having restrictions. He doesn’t do office work, and since I do and like being in front of a computer, this is a career fit for me. There are several advantages of working in the MT field. Flexibility is a major advantage. It gives you the opportunity to associate with your family more and continue to build those relationships. Also, if you already have a job, you can utilize medical transcription at home as a supplement to an insufficient income. An advantage for me would be that I am already familiar with the medical field and medical terminology. SN:0MA9N2ESY

In the hard economic times we are in, I am forced to search for further training for as little money as possible. If I can enhance my education without spending a lot of money, I would be thrilled. Given the fact that times are hard, I would still like to have a family. Having a career like MT would help start my future with my husband. Being an MT would give me the flexibility and extra income to fulfill those dreams. Medical transcription offers some educational and career advantages. Instead of having just a “job,” completing an MT program gives me the opportunity to have a Career. By starting now, I can be successful and on my way to achieving my goals for the future. Having this training will help further my knowledge in the medical field and can be useful all over. In my opinion, medical transcription seems to be perfect because it offers flexibility to continue with your normal life and keep building your familial relationships. It is also a jump start into a new future..

Medical Transcribers Can Work From Home

Written by myworldplus on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 in MLM.

It is no new news to anyone in the country that the economy has hit rock bottom.  Everyone is looking for work and it is really a tough market out there for an administrative assistant.  Newly graduated MBAs are even looking to be an administrative assistant and so with that stiff competition; it’s really hard to get a job, let alone a good-paying job.

I currently work for the state of California, full-time.  Recently, we were hit with pay cuts and mandatory furloughs, which made state workers lose about 15% of our pay across the board, including managers and the regular rank and file.  I also travel an hour from home to work each morning and an hour back each night on the train, which takes me out of my own house for 12 hours a day.  I rarely get to spend time with my family, even if I am recently married.  I sought other means to compensate for the shortage in pay, without having to sacrifice even more time out of my home.  I recently started working a home business, but it has been slow going.  Unfortunately for me, I do not think selling is my specialty.  And spending the fees on the monthly overhead and advertisements that really gained nothing back for me is also getting to be a little annoying.

I came across an article on the Internet about legitimate work-at-home or home typist jobs and found that medical transcribers can work from home and make a decent wage.  I had always thought about this, but was afraid to try because of the cost and the time it would take to train.  But I came across Future MT’s website and noticed that the tuition was fairly low – lower than I had expected, and they even offered free tuition through a sweepstakes contest.  That was a great incentive for me to step forward.  I have always enjoyed helping people and the medical industry will always need workers.  I believe that even though technology has come a long way to make things easier for doctors, they will always need transcribers because doctors are so busy and have so much work to do, they do not have the time to type up their own reports. SN:0MA9N2ESY

Working in medical transcription at home would mean that I would have more time to spend with my family and not be so tired all the time, the flexibility of working from home in a legitimate job, and actually being able to be proud of what I do for doctors and specialists.  It’s a necessary job opportunity and there seems to be a shortage of medical transcribers, which would give someone who graduates from this program an excellent opportunity to get a very stable job.  I would still be able to have my “day” job, but I would not be so dependent upon it and so stressed when they start mentioning pay cuts.  I may welcome the furloughs because that would give me more time to work the medical transcription job and have some extra free time for my family.

In the future, my husband and I plan to move out of state.  We are getting tired of the games the government plays with our pay and benefits.  But being a medical transcriber would allow me to move without worry about income.  I would be able to work anywhere, even in Alaska if I had the inclination.  In the future, I hope to inspire others to pursue this avenue of medical transcription by sharing my story.  Maybe I will pursue a degree or open my own business.  Because I am taking this first step, those options are all open to me.
