With more and more people becoming unemployed currently, many are falling back on their skills and starting a business of their own from home. Having a beauty therapist business based from home has always been one of the most popular home-based business options and now more than ever people are putting their beauty skills to good use at home and sometimes making a whole lot of money. If you are new to running a beauty business from your spare room, here is some advice to help you on your way.

Building A Client Base. Building a base of clients that you can rely on for steady work is the number one hardest thing to achieve. If you have come from working for an organization you may have the luxury of being able to take a number of your clients with you who previously came in for treatments or spa days. If you don’t have this luxury then you will likely have to spend a bit of time and money advertising and shouting your name from the rooftops. A great way to do this is go to a shopping centre put up some advertising and offer people a free massage or pedicure for example. Give them your business card and hopefully you will impress them so much they will come back for more.

Current Client Incentives. The best advertising people you have available to you are those people who you currently serve, and offering them some incentives for referring you to their network of friends is a very good way to grow your business. Promise them a skin care product of their choice if they refer a friend, or better yet a free treatment, as this really costs you nothing.

Sell Skin Care Products
. A great way to pick up a bit of extra cash is to sell your clients skin care products when they come to you.It is always best to sell the products that are used in your treatments as these will be the ones your clients have experience of and the ones they trust to work. You only need to place a small mark-up on the products if you buy in large enough volumes, and it can turn into quite a money earner.
