Before creating a web site you should have decided how you intend to get visitors or ‘traffic’ to your web pages. Be it selling a product or service or conveying an opinion or information you want to get attention and this means getting traffic. You should devote your energies to getting the search engines to direct as many visitors as possible to your web pages. The most economical and focused traffic is delivered by the search engines.
Search engine incomes are directly related to the number of relevant results they present to their users. The precision of the results presented to the searchers are a key factor in maintaining search engine user loyalty. User loyalty directly translates to a stronger brand and higher revenues for the search engines. You and your web pages face a similar challenge.Persuade users to come back to your web pages over and over again.
So what is it you need to do?. There are two paths to achieving this and the good news is you can if you have the money do both. You can write useful and relevant content or you can use the advertising methods offered by search engines and other properties.
Without a keyword or a key phrase search engines will simply ignore content. Keywords tell the search engines what the user is looking for. The search engine performs a look up on its enormous indexes to fetch a list of web pages that contain instances of the keyword and returns them in a predefined order of relevance. Search engines use relevance and authority to decide what pages get returned and presented to the searcher.
Authority is determined in the main by search engines view of how many back links a web page has and relevance is related to the presence of keywords in the content of the web page(s). The number and authority of the back links to a web page help the search engine determine the position the web page will occupy in the list of pages.
Back links are critical to the quality of the search engines perception of your web pages.
Back links have two major functions – routing traffic to your web pages and helping the search engines determine the ranking of your web pages in the results returned by a user search. Users finding web pages with back links to your web page will click on your back links and visit your site if the keyword text in your back link is relevant to what they are searching for. This text in the back link is known as ‘anchor text’ and this too is taken into consideration by the search engines. Some back links have more value than others.
Back links from pages with authority in eyes of the search engine can pass authority onto your web pages.Web pages with more authority pass more authority onto your pages .
